SYNOPSIS

BESA vividly portrays a time and a place where Muslims, Christians and Jews of the Balkan Peninsula were able to overcome their ethnic and religious hatred in an intense hardship of the World War II. This is a story that takes us through an emotional and treacherous journey through the high mountains of Albania in the quest to learn the meaning of the word BESA, an Albanian word of honour.

ASTRIT HYKAJ BIOGRAPHY

Astrit Hykaj was born in the North-East Albania. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana, Albania in 1994 and later he studied Acting on Stage and Film at The British and American Drama Academy in London. He has written, produced and directed several short films, music videos and adverts.

Irene, a young Jewish lady is advised to seek shelter at the home of a good friend in Skopje and to escape the Nazi prosecutors. When Germans tighten the rope, Irene is forced to flee to Albania with the help of an unknown companion. In an emotional and treacherous journey through the high mountains of Albania Irene is set to learn the meaning of BESA, the Albanian word of honour.
